We are looking for a proactive and practical Technical Officer to help keep our venues safe, compliant, and operating at their best. In this varied, hands-on role, you will resolve maintenance issues, inspect equipment, support events, and ensure our facilities are always ready for customers. Hours, Pay and Benefits

Hours: This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week often on variable shifts in line with the needs of our sites. The ability to work flexibly across days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays is essential

Pay:  starting at £26,364 per annum, rising to £26,993 after successful completion of six-month probationary period

Key Experiences and Qualifications

Essential

  • At least five GCSE’s at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent vocational qualification)
  • IPAF licence (or commitment to obtain within three months of start date)
  • Practical technical skills with knowledge of technical procedures
  • Understanding of health and safety legislation and associated regulations within a leisure, facilities or theatre environment
  • Experience of maintaining building and plant equipment
  • Confident IT user, particularly MS Excel

Beneficial

  • IOSH Working Safely qualification (or equivalent) (or willingness to obtain within six months of start date)
  • Experience of operating event lighting and sound systems
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh, or any other language in addition to English​

Role Requirements

Our Technical Officer plays a key role in working collaboratively with our teams in maintaining our venues to ensure they are safe, compliant and fit for purpose for our colleagues, customers and visitors.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Responding to general maintenance enquiries and arranging remedial works as required
  • Carrying out minor repairs and escalating specialist works to approved contractors
  • Undertaking weekly inspections of sports and fitness equipment, mechanical and electrical plant, critical service equipment and plant rooms
  • Conducting regular venue and grounds inspections to identify maintenance, safety, and security issues, taking prompt action where required
  • Assist with completion of building and technical risk assessments and method statements
  • Support with planning and preparation of special events, including gets ins, set ups, take downs, and get outs
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in compliance with health, safety and licencing requirements

Additional Requirements

You must have practical technical skills with the willingness for further self-development. Having trade knowledge and experience are a distinct advantage, as are any technical qualifications held.

Due to the need to travel between sites, you must also hold a valid UK Driving Licence.

You will be able to manage your time effectively to meet deadlines and have an organised and methodical approach to work.

You must also have confidence in using IT systems, and especially MS Excel, and be self-motivated and passionate about delivering excellent customer service, taking pride in all that you do.
