Our Receptionists are the face of Newport Live, as the first point of contact when visiting our sites; greeting our members and visitors in person and answering calls along with our Customer Services team. We have a number of part-time shifts available at Newport International Sports Village, and are looking for people to join the team as soon as possible.


Hours, Pay and Benefits

Salary: £13.45 per hour (current Real Living Wage)

Hours:  There are a number of different shifts available at two of our sites at Newport International Sports Village, with opportunities to work extra shifts as and when required for absence cover across all sites across Newport Live:

Monday

06:00-13:15 - Geraint Thomas National Velodrome (6.75 hours)

16:00-20:00 - Regional Pool & Tennis Centre (4.0 hours)

Tuesday

14:15-22:15 - Regional Pool & Tennis Centre (7.50 hours)

16:00-20:00 - Regional Pool & Tennis Centre (4.0 hours)

Thursday

16:00-20:00 - Regional Pool & Tennis Centre (4.0 hours)

Key Experiences and Qualifications

Essential Experience

  • Working in a customer-facing customer services role 
  • Cash handling in a busy service environment 
  • Using telephony systems 
  • Achieving set targets and deadlines 

Beneficial Experience

  • Sales and upselling of products and/or services 
  • Using Point of Sale (POS) systems 

Role Requirements

Who are we looking for? 

You should have a friendly and approachable nature, with a dedication to delivering excellent customer service and the ability to remain calm during busier periods (typically events and peak times). 

Previous Receptionist experience is beneficial, but full training will be provided. 

What will you be doing? 

Our Receptionists are multi-taskers, and two shifts are rarely the same. The main responsibilities will include: 

  • Greeting customers and visitors on arrival
  • Dealing with customers queries face-to-face, on the telephone or via email
  • Taking payments and assisting with paperwork for banking
  • Assisting with sales through positive promotion of our activities and services
  • Ensuring the Reception area is always clean and well presented
  • Taking an important role in any emergency situations, including site evacuations

Additional Requirements

The ability to communicate in Welsh (or any other languages) is always beneficial to us, so that we can best support our diverse communities.
