To assist with the delivery of engaging, safe, and inclusive children’s cycling sessions. This includes learn-to-ride activities and progressive cycling skills development sessions aimed at children of various ages and abilities. The role supports young riders to gain confidence, improve bike handling, and enjoy physical activity through cycling.
Hours, Pay and Benefits
Grade 3 – £13.45 per hour (£25,945 pro rata)
Be able to work varying shift patterns to include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Key Experiences and Qualifications
British Cycling Intro to Coaching qualification or equivalent coaching qualification.
Possess 5 GCSE passes (Grades A-G) or equivalent level qualification.
Knowledge of Safeguarding and Children Protection procedures.
Experience of working with children and young people, and adults.
Experience of working in a customer facing environment.
Role Requirements
Support and deliver children’s cycling sessions including learn-to-ride, balance bike, and cycle skills activities.
Assist children in selecting appropriately sized bikes and safety equipment.
Lead small group rides and activities in a controlled, safe, and engaging environment.
Encourage participation through a positive, inclusive, and child-friendly approach. Follow Newport Live’s safeguarding procedures and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people.
Support the setup and pack-down of equipment before and after sessions.
Maintain equipment, including bikes, helmets, and kit, ensuring it is safe and well cared for.
Keep accurate attendance and session records as required.
Act as a positive role model for cycling and physical activity.
Participate in relevant training and development, including safeguarding, first aid, and cycle coaching.
Support the wider cycling programme and other community events as required.
Perform any other duties relevant to the role as directed by the Cycling Manager or Cycling Officer.
