This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced, transformational leader who can help shape the future of sport and physical activity in the Gwent region as the Regional Director. We are seeking an inspiring individual who is passionate about the value and impact of community sport and physical activity and the belief that everyone should be active together, for life. This role will provide the leadership, energy, knowledge and skills to drive Active Gwent as a credible, innovative and sustainable partnership representing the whole of the Gwent region. Tasks will be varied, challenging, and often complex.


Hours, Pay and Benefits

Salary: £60,000- £70,000 per year (plus pension package). 

Hours: Full-time flexible working hours within core periods.  There is an expectation that the Regional Director  might need to attend events/meetings outside of  core periods.


Key Experiences and Qualifications

Significant evidence or demonstrable and impactful experience within a leadership position.

Significant evidence of leading and implementing a vision and strategy.

Significant evidence of data-led decision-making that has led to service improvement.

Considerable experience of partnership working between sectors, such as local authorities, further education, higher education, third sector and/or health

Demonstrable experience of working at a national, regional or local level with senior officials

Experience of leading regional strategic projects

Experience of leading on change within a multi-agency environment

Degree or equivalent in relevant subject and/or substantial demonstrable and relevant experience.


Role Requirements

The role offers you the opportunity to improve the lives of Gwent’s approx.600,000 residents by promoting community sports and activity generally. As a new sports partnership we have the opportunity to reshape how sport and exercise is delivered and promoted across Gwent . You will be working with the five local authorities, Sport Wales and key stakeholders within the region, introducing new ways of working. As Regional Director you will be responsible for shaping our vision and strategy working closely with the Chair and the board. We want to work collaboratively and to access best practice wherever it exists and promulgate it across Gwent.
